Description

Tucked away within a remote cove in Resurrection Bay near Seward, Alaska you will find a yurt-lover and sea kayaker’s paradise. The Resurrection Bay Yurt and Kayak Adventure experience is an inclusive package that includes youvr stay at one of four oceanfront yurts, a round trip scenic boat tour to the yurts, and full use of our fleet of sea kayaks for some of the best kayaking in Resurrection Bay. The four yurts offer a perfect hideaway nestled within the green forest canopy of the Kenai Peninsula, adjacent to the Kenai Fjords National Park.

The yurts are accessible only by boat taxi from Seward, ten miles away by water. Your stay here includes the spectacularly scenic 40 minute boat tour through the Kenai Fjords, via the yurts’ exclusive water taxi, the M/V Shearwater. From the vessel’s cabin and deck, guests enjoy sightings of whales, porpoise, sea otters and bald eagles, not to mention the stunning views of jutting mountains and deep fjords.

The boat tour is only the beginning. The boat will deliver you to your destination where you will be greeted by our on-site host and find your cozy home for the duration of your stay. Four yurts equipped with memory foam queen beds and propane heaters will send you into a peaceful slumber and restore you for your next days’ adventures of kayaking along the coastline and among sea life, weaving in and out of inlets, or hiking along the ocean cliffs and coastal forest. Guided kayaking tours as well as botanical, biological, and geological tours are available for an additional cost. Please inquire.

You’re likely to experience a plethora of sea life here from humpback whales and orcas breaking the surface of the water to harbor seals basking on the rocks and sea lions cruising the shoreline for their dinner. The salmon run in August and early September attract black bears, orcas, eagles, and river otters. Mountain goats can be seen through binoculars high on the surrounding basalt peaks. Low tide can expose countless urchins, sea stars, sea anemones and a bounty of other inter-tidal creatures.

The yurts are totally off-grid and have most amenities except for electricity. In the full swing of summer Alaska's midnight sun brings plenty of light. Battery powered lanterns are provided for the early and later parts of the season when it does actually get dark. Guests bring their own food and ice. Each yurt has a beautiful, private deck overlooking Resurrection Bay. The decks have a private bathroom/shower house for each yurt with a composting toilet and hot shower for washing off after the day’s adventures hiking or kayaking. The yurts can sleep up to two or four with a queen bed and full size sofa bed (depending on the yurt).

Four yurts are available.
