Description

The San Juan Mountains of Colorado have an unparalleled majesty. A 16x24 tent rests in a stunning meadow, home to numerous waterfalls and wildflowers. Here you will find peace, quiet, and beauty beyond compare. The tent offers hiking, skiing, snowshoeing, stargazing and so much more immediately out the door, as well as stunning 360 degree views of 13 and 14,000 foot peaks right from the deck, including Mount Sneffels, United States Mountain, Teapot. The main jeep road is over a half mile away so the location is quiet and secluded. You’ll feel like you’re tucked away in your own corner of the universe.

The tent can accommodate eight guests. Inside the tent you will find bunk beds, LED lanterns that also charge your devices, a table and chairs, and a wood stove. Bedding is not provided. The owner, also an incredible chef, will bring breakfast and dinner to your door.

Springtime (May well into June) brings incredible conditions for spring skiing and snowshoeing. You will find terrain for all levels of abilities. You’ll find powder, corn snow, couloirs and glades. At this time of year guests can ski or hike to the tent from Camp Bird Road. The 4WD road to the property opens late June or early July, depending on the amount of snow, and is open through October (high clearance vehicles necessary). In summer wildflowers and wildlife abound. You can hike to your heart’s content, with easy access to the Richmond Trail and numerous saddles and peaks.

The owners are closeby in their cabin (about 300 yds away) if you should need anything. Though there is not cell reception at the property, you can use your phone and wifi at their cabin if needed.

Available May through October
