Description
An adorable cottage on a private lake, the Quaint Cottage on the Lake is a remote, tranquil retreat perfect for couples or a small family. It’s cozy 500 square foot size can fit up to eight guests though. The private lake offers fishing, swimming and refreshment, a hidden oasis near southwest Utah’s desert attractions. There are two other cabins here on the Camp Jackson property that can be rented for a larger group gathering, the Camp Jackson Chateau (can sleep 12 in main cabin and 12 more in bunk cabins, tent, and RV sites) and the Grand Cabin of Camp Jackson (30 additional guests). One is across the lake and the other is not within view or earshot. All share access to the private lake.
You’ll want to take advantage of the Quaint Cottage on the Lake’s incredible location to explore the area. The cabin is situated centrally among more than a dozen monuments, state, and national parks, including Canyonlands and Arches National Park, Natural Bridges National Monument, and so much more. From the spirits of Native American petroglyph art to the rousing words of Ed Abbey, this landscape has inspired the human imagination for centuries. Your own adventure beckons.

Recommendations
The private lake allows catch-and-release fishing, paddle boats, or wading in the shallow area (kids require adult supervision). Catch-and release-fishing only. Please use barb-less hooks. Three paddle boats are included in the rental.
The Quaint Cottage on the Lake is central to the San Juan County trail system. It is located 1/2 mile from the Camp Jackson Trail, a multi use trail for horses, hiking or ATVs. Hunting season is also great time at Camp Jackson. Located miles back in the forest, large game and turkey are abundant.
There are, quite literally, hundreds of hiking, jeeping and biking trails to explore in the area. The famous views of Arches and Canyonlands National Parks are nearby, but don’t forget less popular, but equally unforgettable, hikes such as the Procession Panel petroglyphs, Grand Gulch and Chesler Park Loop. The area has many fascinating Native American sites with ruins and petroglyphs such as Mesa Verde, River House Ruin, Hovenweep, Butler Wash Ruins, House on Fire Ruin, Newspaper Rock and more. If you’re needing a spot of refreshment in the midst of the desert, enjoy golfing at Hideout Golf Course or fishing, boating, swimming and more at Lloyds Lake Beach or Recapture Reservoir.
