The Wild Horse Chalet sits on 50 sprawling acres between the Sangre de Cristo Mountains, the volcanic domes of the San Juan Mountains and Great Sand Dunes Natural Park. High desert serenity abounds, with natural wonders in your midst. From the Sand Dunes to the Zapata Falls, the Rio Grande River and the towering 14ers of Mt. Blanca and Culebra Mtn., this landscape has inspired artists and explorers for generations. For a day trip that’s both inspiring and exhilarating, the famous art galleries of Taos and four of northern New Mexico’s best ski resorts are a day trip away. For a sojourn closer to the Chalet, a five minute drive will take you to the beauty of the Sanchez Reservoir. Renowned as a playground for wild horses, the reservoir is also a great location to spot wildlife such as mule deer, elk, pronghorn antelopes, coyotes and hummingbirds.

Or simply take in the arid alpine beauty on the ranch itself, the Southern Colorado high desert the expansive landscape dotted with juniper, pinyon pine, and sage providing a contrast to the dramatic mountains. After a day of exploration and adventure, guests will be treated to the property’s swimming pool, hot tub, and sauna, Japanese gardens, gazebo, fire pit, and observation tower.

Three and six course gourmet dinners, massage, and private tours of the area are also available. Inquire with the owner.
