Description

Full of creative character and whimsical touches, the Langley Cottage is a 3-level stucco dwelling located on five acres in the foothills of the Sangre de Cristo range of Colorado’s southern Rockies. Divided into an upper level dwelling and an efficiency apartment downstairs, the cottage can accommodate eight guests total between these two levels, including a lower level sunroom where you can sleep under a starry sky without leaving the house. Thermostat heat and two wood stoves will keep you toasty even in the coldest months. With two kitchens and a big chest freezer, preparing large meals for your crew is a cinch -- and extra rewarding when you sit down to eat in the dining room and gaze through the seven large windows over the views of Mount Blanca, Mountain Home Lake and the expanse of the San Luis Valley. Even the bathrooms are full of lovingly handcrafted details in this cottage, with the downstairs apartment featuring a copper bathtub surrounded by wrought iron sculpting, and amber glass sink perched atop a concrete tree stump, and photographic wall murals that give you the feeling of being deep in the forest.

A secluded sanctuary, this cottage is close to great boating and fishing at Mountain Home Lake and Wildlife Area, Joyful Journey Hot Springs, and is just half an hour from The Great Sand Dunes National Park and Preserve. In winter, snowmobiling, cross country skiing and ice fishing are right at your doorstep. But you’re also only an hour’s drive from Taos and Red River ski areas in New Mexico.

The grounds have extra space for parking, motor homes, and RV’s and there’s plenty of room for camping. The owner’s hilltop studio (no bathroom there) can be made available by special arrangement for meditation or a solo getaway.
