Red Canyon Hideaway

Utah, United States

Details

Accommodates: 6

Bedrooms: 3

Bathrooms: 2

Description

Surrounded by thousands of acres of untouched red rock cliffs and mesas, this hidden gem lies at the end of a dirt road, beyond two locked gates, and across three stream traverses. There is only one other house in the canyon and it is about a mile away. Despite this solitude, don’t expect a rustic backcountry dwelling when you arrive at the Red Red Canyon Hideaway. The intimate two bedroom, two bath, 1,000 square foot house was designed by a San Francisco architect and has a chic modern feel -- as well as a pool with a covered patio. Beyond the covered deck and back patio you’ll discover a romantic two-person tent cabin.

This contemporary home base provides a gateway to the ancient lands around it, which are dotted with seldom seem petroglyphs, ancient grainaries, and cave dwellings from thousands of years ago. You are also ideally situated to explore the country’s most stunning rock formations at nearby Arches and Canyonlands National Parks. If water is calling, you can dip into the Colorado River to fish, raft or kayak. No matter where the day takes you, at the end of it return to this sanctuary to take in the views of the red cliffs jutting skywards from the canyon floor as they soak up the last drops of desert sunlight. Off-the-grid urban-style elegance nestled in the untamed expanse of the Utah desert makes the Red Canyon Hideaway is a truly unique desert oasis.

4WD vehicle or SUV with high clearance necessary.

Reservation and Cancellation Policy

Check-in time is between 4 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. We ask that you be in Moab, prepared to meet the caretaker by 4 p.m. on the day of your arrival.

We have a three-night minimum. If you reserve only two nights, you will be charged for those two nights plus a cleaning fee of $150.We will be unable to confirm your reservation until we check with our caretaker on her availability on those dates.

The nightly rate for 2015 is $325 per night with a four-night minimum. (If you reserve fewer than 4 nights your reservation will be cancelled.) 100% of the house rental fee is due 60 days before arrival. The Red Canyon Hideaway's weekly rental rate for 2015 is $2200. In addition, a 10.2% sales/room tax is added to the total cost of your stay as required by law. If you rent the main house, you may also rent the tent cabin across the stream for $40 a night for each night of your stay (not just the nights you use it). If your party consists of more than 4 people, you will automatically be charged for the tent cabin in addition to the house as the house sleeps only 4. (We do not rent the tent cabin out separately; if you do not choose to rent it, no one will be using it.) There is a cleaning fee of $140 plus required sales taxes. We accept checks for payment and due to the high transaction fees we charge a 5% surcharge on all credit card payment (except the refundable $250 damage/security deposit).

Occupancy: 4 guests maximum in the house; 2 guests in the tent cabin. No children under 10.

Conservation is necessary. Due to limited energy and water supply, additional people are not allowed to spend the night.

Any changes in the dates of your reservation that are requested less than 30 days prior to check-in will be subject to a $100 change fee in addition to any increase in the nightly rental.

Please note: A few times every year, usually in late spring, the creek may be too high to cross. These periods generally last a few hours and may interrupt a guest's schedule. Usually, one simply waits for the creek to subside, perhaps returning to town for several hours. Every few years we have a flash flood that washes out the road and the house is inaccessible for several days or longer until the road is repaired. Should an act of nature of this sort or any other kind prevent you from getting to The Red Red Canyon Hideaway for a portion of or for all of your stay, your nightly rental amount for the nights you are unable to stay at The Red Canyon Hideaway will be refunded. (We will not pay for alternate accommodations or airfare or other travel expenses incurred).
