Description
Nestled at 12,000 feet in the heart of the San Juans, this beautifully finished, 1200 square foot mountain cabin is a stunning scenic retreat. Its vantage point on Picayune Gulch offers a panoramic view of the peaks and valleys of the rugged San Juan range, with the Animas River headwaters and the historic ghost town of Animas visible below.

Location and Access
The cabin is located 13 miles north of Silverton, CO. It is available June 1st through September 30th. 4x4 vehicle, ATV, dirt bike, or on foot only (vehicles must be high clearance 4WD). No trailers. Must be comfortable using maps and driving on mountain 4x4 roads.

Summer is prime season for this area’s outdoor recreation. With several 14,000 foot tall peaks nearby, the cabin provides ample opportunities for:
Climbing, Fishing, Hiking, Mountain biking, Jeeping, Four wheeling, Hunting

The cabin offers miles of wilderness to explore on foot, by bike, or by 4x4 vehicle. To make the most of your trip, check out these options:
Hiking from the bottom of Picayune Gulch via Grouse Gulch to access American Basin and Handies Peak (14,058)
Drive/Hike to the “Old 100 Boarding House.” This is very advanced. Be sure to do your research!
Fishing in the Animas River and beaver ponds below Eureka down into Silverton (anything above cement creek in Silverton)
4wheeling anywhere on the Alpine Loop: five stunning high mountain passes.
Sleeping arrangements
There are beds for more than 8 so you can take your pick and spread out. Yet, the maximum capacity for the cabin is 8. The 5 futons are between double and queen sized. All beds have mattress covers, pillows and pillow cases.

Pets are not recommended. If you must bring your pet(s) we limit you to a maximum of 2, and it is $100/week/pet.
Property Policies
A signed rental agreement and photo ID need to be mailed or emailed to the owner at the time of the reservation request. Then payment will be requested. A $500 deposit is due to reserve dates.
Remaining balance is due three weeks prior to arrival
$500 damage deposit is required with final payment, in the form of a separate check mailed directly to the owner from the renter, that will be retained until after guest departs.
A one time fee of $100 will be added for any trip less than 3 nights
